I am planning to fly to Chicago to be in a wedding in August. I live in Portland and the wedding is in Chicago. I will be looking for deal between now and then. I am on a buget so price is my main concern. Any tips on airlines to fly with that commonly make this trip? Deals etc. All suggestions Welcome. Thank you.

AA and UA fly the route for about 250 USD return in August. southwest also flies between Portland and Chicago and they ask for about 260 USD. I say both are good deals for a 4 hour flight.... Don't think you can get a better deal....

Well, first of all, is this Portland Oregon (PDX) or Portland Maine (PWM)? And what days do you plan on flying on? Out of PWM, you have the option of a direct flight on United Express for a price somewhere around $300 (R/T). If you are willing to make a connecting flight, you can find flights at $200 or lower. (for the random August days that I searched, US Airways was the cheapest, but you also may have luck with the other legacy carriers (NWA, CO, or DL). For truly budget fares, you may have some luck with JetBlue, but this will depend heavily on the dates you are flying. If your origin is in Oregon (PDX) you have many more options. United and American both serve the route nonstop, and their prices are about the same $300. The connecting prices, though, are just as high, at $250 average. The only discount carrier that serves the route with logical connections is Southwest. Their prices on the dates I searched aren't much better, but you may have better luck on the dates that you plan on flying. Even if you don't see anything immidiately, you may want to watch their fares with the "Ding" program, as they may go down as they go on sale. I hope this helps. For reference, you may want to keep these sites in your mind, as they are the most logical choices for the route you plan on flying.

yeah are u flying frm Portland Oregon (PDX) or Portland Maine (PWM)? also u can check for cheapest options on either Yahoo travel or Travelocity.... i would not suggest Jetblue very risky concerning the confirmation of ur reservation... can try on Airtran....
