Advice from somone who know the Portland, OR airport

Advice from somone who know the Portland, OR airport?
I've got to get to the airport on Dec 9th to catch a plane to go home for Christmas. However, the only method of transportation I can find to get to the airport is by Amtrack. The earliest train they have is at around 6:30 which will get me to Portland at 8:05 am. If I take the Max from the station to the airport would I be able to make a 10:27 am flight?

You'll probably be OK. If the train is on time, there's an 8:13 green line train, change at Rose Quarter for the red line and get to the airport at 8:55. Or take the 8:28 green line, arrive at the airport at 9:09. Assuming you print your boarding pass at home and aren't checking any luggage, so the only line is the one to get groped at security, an hour should be more than enough.

I agree: It should be enough time. Portland is a very efficient airport. The biggest time variability is due to the security screening lines. If there are 10–20 people waiting for the ID check at the beginning of the maze, it is about 10 to 12 minutes from joining the queue until the end of putting your clothes back on after the body search. It *seems* like closer to an hour when your flight is waiting, but I've done it dozens of times this year and it is pretty reliable. Tip: use whichever security screening area has the shortest wait. Once passed security, there is a hallway—with moving sidewalks—which connects to the back of the other security area and parallels the main shopping and restaurant courseway. See the terminal map http://www.portofportland.com/pdx_terminal_map.aspx * * * edit * * * The map above sucks. Here is a PDF which shows the layout much better. http://www.portofportland.com/PDFPOP/TerminalMap.pdf The thick red lines are the security screening areas; the "concourse connector" is what I mentioned above. Max arrives at the lower left.

I used to travel 60% of the time for business an used PDX as a departure point. You will have plenty of time.
