Is 40 minutes enough time to make connecting flight?
I am flying Alaska Airlines from Portland, OR to Seattle, WA to Vancouver, Canada. Once I land in Seattle I will have 40 minutes to make the connecting flight to Vancouver? Will that be enough time? I will only have carry on luggage. Thanks

SEATAC isn't a large airport in comparison to other airports in the country, but Alaska Airlines does use it as a hub, and has flights departing from both Concourses C and D as well as the North Satellite terminal. Since you will be airside, however, you won't have to worry about rechecking through security because the terminals are all connected airside. It shouldn't be a problem, but you should do your best to get to the gate as soon as possible, since most airlines begin boarding 40 min to half an hour before departure anyways.

Yes, you should be fine.

As long as your first flight lands on time, you should be okay. But you'll have to hurry unless you get lucky and find yourself taking off from the same concourse in which you arrive. Planes typically begin to board about 30 min before departure, and the doors close 5-10 min before departure, so you definitely want to hustle.

Think about it....if it wasn't enough time, then the airline wouldn't have made that a SCHEDULED CONNECTION. As long as you didn't make up your own routing, you are fine. If the airline scheduled it this way, then obviously they do it every day. The only issue is if there are delays, which is impossible for anyone to predict.

I think 40 minutes should be fine as long as the flight is not delayed in landing into SEATAC. Alaska Airlines does have a number of gates in Seattle. Hopefully you are not sitting in the back of the plane.

If the airline sold you a ticket with 40 minutes between flights then either it will be OK or it's the airline's responsibility to get you to your destination if it isn't OK (and you miss the connection). If you had checked luggage I would actually say it is NOT enough time - less than a full hour between flights is a recipe for delayed luggage. However, you only have carry-on so that isn't an issue. You may want to check the airline schedules to find out when the next flight will be to Vancouver if you miss your scheduled flight - so you know.
